Peter Marsham

Peter started his radio career on Bridlington’s first and only radio station Bridlington Quay FM 101.8FM in 1992 presenting the afternoon show. He then gained more experience as Programme Controller at Kingstown Radio in Hull. During this time he also worked at Hallam FM and Classic Gold Radio in Sheffield. In 1993 he was also part of the launch team at Yorkshire Coast Radio in Scarborough.

In 1997 Peter started presenting at Minster FM in York where he hosted networked programmes to Sun FM in Sunderland, Huddersfield FM and Yorkshire Coast Radio. At this time Peter also worked at Century Radio in the North East. Peter stayed at Minster FM for nearly two years and covered all of the daytime shows until he was offered a full time staff position by Lincs FM PLC at their new sister station Trax FM in Bassetlaw and Doncaster. Peter presented the popular evening show at the station. He also presented programmes on Lincs FM 102.2 in Lincolnshire at the weekends.

Wanting a more scenic route to work and his evenings back, Peter decided it was time to move on and returned to Yorkshire Coast Radio. This time round he worked at the stations new Bridlington site on Bridlington Harbour. For 5 years he presented the stations morning show. Within two years he helped take the station to market leader, beating strong competition in the area, and also doubled the stations reach from 21% to a record 45%!

In late 2006 Peter moved on from Yorkshire Coast Radio as a group he was a Founding Director with won the full time Community radio licence in his home town of Hull. Under Peter’s guidance as Programme Controller, the station went on to win the SONY Gold award for “outstanding programming” and ‘Radio Station Of The Year in Yorkshire’ at the 2009 Radio Academy awards!

In the past few years Peter has also worked for Alpha 103.2 in Darlington, Silk FM in Macclesfield, Durham FM, Thames FM in London, Pennine FM in West Yorkshire, and he made a return to Trax FM and Lincs FM too. More recently Peter has been presenting shows on Pulse FM in Somerset, Chilled Radio, and over on the Isles of Scilly at Radio Scilly FM.

Peter says that he believes his success in radio has comprised of five things: to get people talking, to entertain, to make a positive difference, to get results for advertisers and to give to the community.

Today: In addition to spinning tunes, Peter is also actively involved within his community and travels to various musical events. When he’s not providing great music for people, Peter enjoys spending time with his family, and friends at home.
