Four GP practices in Eastern Cheshire are to merge from April to improve patient care and boost efficiency.

The Middlewood Partnership will bring together McIlvride Medical Practice and Priorslegh Medical Centre, Poynton with Bollington Medical Centre and The School House Surgery, Disley. Middlewood will look after 33,000 people and employ around 120 staff. The existing practices will keep their names and premises but work together behind the scenes as a single business. Patients will stay registered with their existing practice unless they chose to leave it. The plans will eventually allow patients to have appointments in any of the surgeries and with a wider range of healthcare professionals including pharmacists and physiotherapists.
