Major Building Works at the Salvation Army

Over the next couple of months major refurbishment works will be taking place at the Salvation
Army Hall on Roe Street with preparatory works commencing from Monday 29th October. These
works will include replacement of all windows and remedial works to the roof and external walls
of the 189 year old Grade II listed building. Because of these works the Salvation Army Car Park on Wellington Street will be for Pedestrian Access only from Monday 12th November (No parking). Anybody attending the Salvation Army will need to park in the Churchill Way Car Park instead. There will be no access from Roe Street while the works take place. From Monday 19th November there will be no mid-week activities taking place at the Salvation Army until Tuesday 8th January 2019, but Sunday worship services will continue at 10.30am as normal throughout this period, including on Sunday 23rd
December the Family Carol Service at 10.30am and Carols by Candlelight at 6pm. Please note however that The Salvation Army Autumn Fair will take place as usual on Saturday 17th November at 10am as will the “Tinsel and Turkey” Coffee Morning on Saturday 15th December at 10am. Major Dickens says “We’re very sorry for the inconvenience these works will cause but they are necessary to allow activities by The Salvation Army and other groups who use the Hall to continue for many years to come. Although we won’t have the Hall open during the week for several weeks contact can still be made via email (gareth.dickens@salvationarmy.org.uk) or phone (01625 429903).”
Whilst we appreciate the donations of clothing, bedding etc. that we receive week by week,
due to the limited access we will have during this period we will be unable to accept any such
donations after Friday 9th November until the end of January. Anyone wishing to make
donations of food should contact Major Dickens direct by phone or email.
